On Friday 13th May I’m talking about genre and fiction with literary agent & sci-fi buff Sophie Hamley and authors P.M.Newton and James Bradley at Shearer’s Bookshop in Leichhardt. We’re all interested in crossovers between genres, why it’s so hard for genre fiction to be taken seriously as literature, and why genre fiction is such a roaring success right now. Plus we all wanted an excuse to sit around talking about how the brilliance of The Wire and Battlestar Galactica. Expect high-class geek talk. It should be fun – $7 gets you a glass of wine plus discounts on our books. I wrote a post on the topic for the Shearer’s blog that you can view here. The event starts at 7:30 pm at Shearer’s Bookshop, 99 Norton St Leichhardt – details here.
